Apr 2023 / In person & Online Event

This high-level closing event aimed to highlight the progress made during the pilot implementation of the European Child Guarantee (ECG) and lay the groundwork for its effective application across EU member states and beyond, with the support and active involvement of UNICEF.

The event served as a unique opportunity for EU countries and UNICEF to celebrate achievements, exchange lessons learned and practical insights from pilot actions, and inspire broader adoption of the Child Guarantee at the EU level.

The closing conference was jointly organized by the Government of Bulgaria, UNICEF, and the European Commission (DG Employment, Social Affairs and Inclusion – DG EMPL).

It brought together ministers, national coordinators, and representatives of governmental and civil society organizations from the seven pilot countries, along with Romania and Sweden.

All 27 EU member states were invited to join online, in addition to Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Moldova, and Türkiye.

Children and youth who actively contributed to the formation of national action plans and the implementation of activities under Phase III also participated, sharing their perspectives and key messages.

Members of the European Parliament, long-standing supporters of the initiative, also joined the event.
